About the Tutor

Hello, my name is Julia. I am a retired family medicine physician with a passion for teaching. I graduated summa cum laude with honors from Centenary College of Louisiana where I majored in biophysics and minored in mathematics. I was a division I college athlete competing in gymnastics all four years of my undergraduate. I attended medical school at the University of Texas Medical Branch graduating with a Master of Public Health and Doctor of Medicine. I subsequently trained as a family medicine physician at Houston Methodist Hospital. Due to health reasons, I am now a retired physician who spends most of my time working as an artist, tutoring students in math & science and working to build the church. I enjoy helping others learn, grow and reach their God given goals.

I tutored throughout my four years of undergraduate in multiple science disciplines and math subjects. I like to tailor my tutoring style to the needs of each student. I myself struggled with a learning disability as a child thus am sensitive to students individual learning styles and special needs. I am a patient and encouraging person but also like to teach students how to better focus and make their studies more efficient and productive. My goal is to help students master the current subject but also learn better study habits so that they can be self-sufficient in future studies and eventual careers.

I am well versed in a variety of Math and Science courses. I specialize in tutoring algebra 1, algebra 2, high school chemistry, college chemistry, organic chemistry, high-school physics, and college physics 1 and 2. I hope I will be able to serve your needs and help you reach your goals.
